Mariana Ferratto

[artist profile]

Mariana Ferratto (Rome 1979) is an Italian-Argentinian artsist based in Florence. The essential element of her research is the body as a means through which investigate the issue of personal identity and gender, the relationship with the other, the male-female relationships and stereotypes associated with it. The intimate world investigated by the artist aspires to be the paradigm of values, feelings, and hierarchies that dictate the rules of social life by stressing its contradictory aspects. Through the stereotype Ferratto tries to highlight the ambiguities inherent in it.

Mariana Ferratto has exhibited in many institutional spaces, including at Macro – Museo d’Arte Contemporanea Rome, Centro Cultural Recoleta Buenos Aires, Biennale di Monza, Stadtgalerie Kiel, Museum Biedermann Donaueschingen, Istituto Italo-Latino Americano Rome, Le Monnaie de Paris, Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis, MAC Lissone, Galleria Civica d’Arte Contemporanea Termoli, MLAC Museo Laboratorio d’Arte Contemporanea Rome.
